Drunk Driver Banned for 3 Years After M4 Crash Near Chippenham – UKNIP

A man has been slapped with a three-year driving ban after causing a multi-vehicle pile-up on the M4.

Crash Chaos at Junction 17

Mohammed Khan, 38, from Hounslow, was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 7. The collision happened on October 8, 2024, when police rushed to junction 17 following reports of a serious crash.

Upon arrival, officers found two cars smashed into the central reservation and three others battered by flying debris. Khan was behind the wheel of a Volvo involved in the smash.

Refused Breath Test and Paid the Price

Officers noted Khan smelled strongly of booze and a breath test came back positive. He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving but taken to hospital before custody. At the station, he refused to provide an evidential sample.

Khan pleaded not guilty to failing to provide a specimen but was found guilty. He received a 36-month driving ban, 150 hours of unpaid work, and must cough up £610 in Crown Prosecution Service costs plus a £114 victim surcharge.
