A motorist has been hit with a three-year driving ban after sparking a massive pile-up on the M4.

Multi-Car Smash Causes Chaos at Junction 17

Mohammed Khan, 38, from Hounslow, faced the music at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 7. The crash unfolded the very next day at junction 17, when cops raced to the scene after serious collision reports.

Officers found two cars crushed against the central reservation and three more wrecked by flying debris. Khan was behind the wheel of a Volvo caught in the carnage.

Drink Driving Drama: Refused Breath Test

Police immediately noticed Khan reeked of booze. A breath test confirmed he was over the limit. He was arrested for drink driving but rushed to hospital before custody. At the station, Khan refused to give an evidential breath sample.

He pleaded not guilty to failing to provide a specimen—only to be convicted anyway.

Harsh Justice: Ban, Unpaid Work, and Costs

  • Khan was slapped with a 36-month driving ban.
  • He must complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
  • He faces £610 in Crown Prosecution Service costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

The court’s message is clear: drink driving and dodging tests carry heavy consequences.
