Drunk Driver Busted at Malden Road Roundabout After Tip-Off
Just after 8pm on Sunday, 23 November 2025, a sharp-eyed member of the public spotted danger on the roads and called it in. The Roads Policing Unit swooped on a reckless motorist at the Malden Road roundabout in New Malden following reports of dangerous driving on the A3.
Lucas Alves Pinheiro Blows Nearly Four Times Legal Limit
The culprit, 41-year-old Lucas Alves Pinheiro from Sutton, failed his breath test spectacularly. He blew 138 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, almost four times the legal limit of 35. His car was seized on the spot. Further breath tests in custody confirmed readings of 100 and 87, proving he was well over the limit.
Quick Court Action: Pinheiro Banned from Driving for 22 Months
Pinheiro faced swift justice. Charged with driving over the limit, he appeared at Staines Magistrates’ Court the very next day. The judge handed down a 22-month driving ban, sending a clear message to drunk drivers everywhere.
Police Praise Public for Spotting Drunk Drivers
The force urged everyone to keep reporting dangerous drivers. “Your calls make a real difference,” said police. “If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, please report it – you could save lives.”
Police warning: “We’re committed to cracking down on drunk drivers. Think you won’t get caught? Think again.”
