Operation Lytton Targets Historic Abuse

Greater Manchester Police have charged nine men in connection with a high-profile investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation across Rochdale. The probe, known as Operation Lytton, focuses on offences between 2002 and 2006 involving two teenage victims.

Charged Men Face Multiple Serious Offences

  • Mohammed Ghani (Bamford Way, Rochdale): 21 offences including rape, sexual activity with a child, and gross indecency.
  • Ali Razza Hussain Kasmi (Brotherod Hall Road, Rochdale): Six offences including rape and sexual activity with a child.
  • Jahn Shahid Ghani (Whitworth Road, Rochdale): 17 offences including rape and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
  • Martin Rhodes (Dinmore Avenue, Blackpool): Six offences including rape and sexual activity with a child.
  • Ikhlaq Yousaf (Stanley Street, Rochdale): Seven offences including rape, gross indecency, and sexual activity with a child.
  • Aftar Khan (Sparthbottom Road, Rochdale): Eight offences including rape and gross indecency.
  • Mohammed Iqbal (Gainsborough Drive, Rochdale): Two counts of paying for sexual services of a minor under 18.
  • Insar Hussain (Bishop Street, Rochdale): 15 offences including rape, sexual activity with a child, gross indecency, and trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Next Court Date Set

All suspects have been released on bail and are due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on 20 April 2022. The investigation marks a crucial step in tackling child sexual exploitation in Greater Manchester.
