Ex-Argos Worker Stabs Five in Sudden Knife Rampage
Babah Sesay, 31, a former part-time warehouse worker, unleashed a terrifying knife attack at the Argos distribution centre in Beddington, South London. On January 23, he stormed the site, slashing five unsuspecting colleagues in a brutal, “random and unprovoked” assault.
Five Injured, None Life-Threatening
The victims, men aged 20 to 50, were rushed to hospital with stab wounds. Miraculously, thanks to fast-acting emergency crews and brave on-site staff, none suffered life-threatening injuries. Sesay fled but was nabbed just over an hour later at a nearby restaurant. After brief hospital treatment for minor injuries, he was hauled into police custody.
Sesay Admits to Ten Serious Charges
In a dramatic plea at Croydon Crown Court last week, Sesay confessed to a string of offences, including:
- Five counts of wounding with intent
- Two counts of aggravated burglary
- One count of actual bodily harm (ABH)
- One count of assault by beating
- One count of possession of an offensive weapon
Hero Security Guard Saves Lives Despite Injury
A security guard who confronted Sesay during the assault was hailed a hero after tackling him despite being stabbed. “He claimed to work at Argos to bluff his way in,” said a staff member. “The guard was stabbed but kept fighting — he saved lives.”
“People were shouting ‘He’s back!’ and we locked ourselves in a room. We could hear shouting and chaos from the warehouse,” recalled witness Joseph Denton, who was carrying out an audit at the time.
Detective Sergeant Dan Rutland of the Metropolitan Police praised the quick police and staff response: “Their swift actions ensured no one was seriously hurt. We hope today’s court result brings closure and sends a clear message that violence will not be tolerated.”
Sesay faces sentencing at Croydon Crown Court on June 5. The community hopes justice will be served for those scarred by the shocking knife attack.
