Father and Son Found Guilty in Teesside Hit-and-Run Murder Plot
Drug-fuelled Rage Ends in Deadly Crash
Martin Breeze, 57, and his son Shaun, 29, have been convicted over the brutal hit-and-run that killed 60-year-old Brian Derby in Ingleby Barwick, Teesside. On February 2, Martin, high on drugs and booze, deliberately drove his Citroen Berlingo into a group of people, dragging Mr Derby 150 metres on the bonnet before veering off the road.
Vengeance Triggered by Bar Row
The savage assault was sparked by a phone call from Shaun to his dad after a heated argument at a local bar. Seeking revenge, Martin launched the terrifying attack. Despite claiming he lost control, the court ruled the crash was intentional, convicting Martin of murder and four counts of attempted murder.
Son Acquitted of Murder, Guilty of Manslaughter
Shaun Breeze escaped a murder conviction but was found guilty of manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm. Earlier that night, he had fled the scene on a bike after the confrontation.
Community Left Devastated as Justice Awaits
Teesside Crown Court heard how the pair tried to cover their tracks by abandoning the van and returning home. Now, the community mourns the loss of a beloved grandfather and friend. Mr Justice Jacobs will sentence the duo on August 2. Police continue to support the grieving family during this tragic time.
