Father and Son Locked Up for Brutal Sainsbury’s Attack

A father and son shock Cobham locals with a savage assault at a Sainsbury’s Local. Alfred Chambers, 45, and his son Alfie, 23, have both been jailed for four and a half years each after unleashing a terrifying attack on an unsuspecting victim in October 2023.

Violence Erupts Over Spat in Cobham High Street Store

Alfie Chambers stormed into the Sainsbury’s Local on Cobham High Street at 10.40pm on Friday, October 27. A heated argument broke out with a complete stranger. The argument escalated quickly, forcing store workers to step in. Both men left the shop, but the nightmare was far from over.

Machete and Baseball Bat: Attack Turns Savage

The victim, after driving off to escape, returned moments later to collect a forgotten wallet. That’s when Alfie reappeared – this time armed with a huge machete, and Alfred was wielding a metal baseball bat. The victim’s van window was smashed to pieces as Alfred smashed it with brutal force.

The terrified man fled on foot but was relentlessly chased. Both attackers rained down blows, leaving the victim battered and bruised, repeatedly falling to the pavement. Trying to escape, he stumbled back inside the store, but Alfie and Alfred continued their vicious assault as stunned shoppers looked on.

Sainsbury’s Staff Rush to Victim’s Aid

Thankfully, quick-thinking Sainsbury’s staff stepped in. They administered first aid until police and Southeast Coast Ambulance (SECAMB) paramedics arrived. The victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Guildford Crown Court Delivers Justice

On March 7 at Guildford Crown Court, Alfred and Alfie Chambers both pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm and possession of offensive weapons. Alfred also admitted criminal damage. The judge handed down 4½ years each behind bars for the violent father-son duo, sending a clear warning that such brutality will not be tolerated in Cobham.
