Ex-cop exposed for kinky misconduct – Benjamin Mace, a former Cambridgeshire officer, has been found guilty of gross misconduct after using police handcuffs during a sexual encounter while off duty. The 41-year-old resigned in October 2021 but would have faced dismissal if he hadn’t quit first.

Shocking Abuse of Police Power

Mace met the woman in October 2019 via a dating app, where he flaunted his role as a Peterborough-based officer. After messaging for a month, he showed up at her home wearing his full police uniform—off duty and with no policing reason. Things took a dark turn when he used police-issue handcuffs inappropriately during their private encounter.

Disciplinary Panel Slams Mace

The disciplinary hearing, held on 5 December and backed by an IOPC investigation, ruled Mace breached crucial professional standards. The panel found he violated:

  • Honesty and integrity
  • Conduct bringing the force into disrepute

They slammed his actions as damaging to public trust and placed him on the police barred list, banning him from any future police work.

Official Condemnation

Charmaine Arbouin, Regional Director at the IOPC, said: “The public have a right to expect police officers to maintain high levels of professionalism and integrity, whether on or off duty. PC Mace abused his position as a police officer and his actions are a discredit to policing and undermine the public’s confidence in the service.”

Criminal Case Dropped, But Damage Done

The IOPC probe started in May 2020 after the force referred the matter. Evidence was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service, which charged Mace with sexual assault by touching in January 2022. However, the charge was later dropped, leaving only the misconduct conviction as his career’s grim legacy.

Public Trust at Stake

This scandal underlines why cops must be held to the highest standards. Authorities vow to keep rooting out rogue officers and protect the public’s faith in the police.
