Former Ellesmere Port Teacher Jailed for Child Sex Offences
Simon Clark Locked Up for 8 Years
Simon Clark, 46, with no fixed address, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Friday 6 October. The ex-teacher pleaded guilty to 29 charges involving horrific sexual offences against children. He received eight years behind bars, plus four years on licence.
Terrifying List of Charges
- Inciting a child under 13 to engage in penetrative sexual activity
- Inciting a child under 13 to engage in non-penetrative sexual acts (two counts)
- Inciting a child under 16 to engage in non-penetrative sexual acts (two counts)
- 21 counts of sexual communication with a child under 16
- Making 26 Category A indecent images of children
- Making 29 Category B indecent images of children
- Making 81 Category C indecent images of children
Predator Posed as Teen on Snapchat
Clark used the Snapchat handle Jamie_jones6968 to trick and groom underage girls. Police found hundreds of messages requesting explicit photos from girls, at least 30 under 16. Over 100 illicit images were seized from his devices during a May 2023 raid.
Investigation and Sentencing
The chilling case began when a concerned parent reported their daughter receiving indecent messages from an unknown man. Cheshire Police’s Online Child Abuse Investigation Team identified Clark as the suspect, leading to his arrest.
“Clark was a teacher, a person trusted by the community, yet he preyed on young girls with no regard for their wellbeing,” said Detective Constables Louise Murphy and Megan Griffiths.
“We praise the victims for their bravery. This sentence offers some closure allowing them to move forward.”
Lifetime Sex Offender Registration
Clark has also been placed on the sex offender register for life and given restraining orders to protect his victims.
