Four Arrested After Protest Shakes Kent Seafront

About 60 protesters gathered in Kent town centre and along the seafront on Saturday, 29 May 2021. Kent Police were on the scene to keep the event peaceful and minimise disruption to local life and businesses.

Men Face Charges Over Disturbances

Four men were arrested during the protest and face several charges:

  • David Shannon, 30, from Seaview Road, Gillingham, charged with wilfully obstructing a highway.
  • Jordan Ellis, 28, of Second Avenue, Dursley, Gloucestershire, charged with wilfully obstructing a highway and resisting a police officer.
  • Steven Tipple, 42, from Boswell Drive, Coventry, charged with using threatening or abusive language intending to cause fear of violence.
  • George Jenson, 31, of Amherst Drive, Orpington, charged with assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening or abusive behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.

Upcoming Court Dates Set

Shannon, Ellis, and Tipple have been bailed to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 30 June. Meanwhile, Jenson appeared at court on Monday, 31 May, and is bailed to attend Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 24 June.
