Halifax Paedophile Jailed for Over 21 Years After Decades of Abuse

A Halifax man has been locked up for more than 21 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing three young girls over nearly two decades.

Malcolm Holland Convicted of 14 Child Sex Offences

Malcolm Holland, 66, from Carlton Street, was found guilty at Leeds Crown Court of 14 counts including indecent assault, sexual assault of a child, and attempted rape. The victims were girls aged between seven and 14, abused between 2002 and 2021.

The horrific abuses only came to light when one victim bravely reported Holland to West Yorkshire Police in April 2021. Calderdale District Safeguarding detectives then uncovered two further victims during their investigation.

Lengthy Sentence and Lifetime Sex Offender Status

Holland was arrested and charged in November 2023. His convictions include:

  • Six counts of sexual assault of a child under 13
  • Five counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
  • Two counts of attempted rape
  • One count of indecent assault

On Friday 20 June 2025, Holland was sentenced to 21.5 years in prison, plus a further two years on licence. He will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Police Praise Victims’ Bravery in Bringing Predator to Justice

“His lack of accountability forced these brave victims to endure a gruelling investigation and trial,” said Detective Constable Riah Nicholson, who led the probe. “Their courage has ensured justice is served and Holland will spend a significant time behind bars.”

The judge also commended the victims for their strength throughout the emotional court process.

Local safeguarding teams continue to support victims and work to prevent child sexual exploitation across Halifax and Calderdale.
