Lewes Rapist Glen Noone Jailed for Seven Years
Brutal Attack in Victim’s Own Home
Glen Noone, 33, from Lammas Close, Littlehampton, has been locked up for seven years for raping a woman at a private address in Lewes back in October 2019. The chilling sentence was handed down at Chichester Crown Court on Wednesday, 11 May.
Victim’s Courage Brings Justice
Detective Constable Jo Barber praised the victim’s bravery, saying: Noone forced himself on his victim in her own home in a vicious and opportunistic attack. She has shown incredible bravery and patience in supporting our investigation throughout. She added that the victim’s courtroom evidence was crucial in securing the conviction.
Noone will also be registered as a sex offender for life and will face strict police and probation monitoring once released.
Judge Slams Noone’s ‘Brutish Actions’
His Honour Judge Rennie did not hold back during sentencing, telling Noone: You have been convicted on the clearest evidence of rape and your brutish actions have had a profound effect. The victim did absolutely nothing wrong and none of this was her fault.
The judge continued: You decided to have sex with her whether she consented or not. This was her home — a place she should have felt safe.
Support for Survivors
The victim thanked Detective Constable Jo Barber, PC Jo Fox from the Sexual Offences Investigation Team, and her adviser Julia Gray from Brighton-based Survivors Network for their unwavering support. She said: This was an attack by a man I trusted who betrayed that trust in the most terrible way. I was determined he would be held to account.
