Manhunt Ends with Arrest

A 30-year-old Isle of Wight man sparked a huge manhunt after smashing a bottle over a woman’s head in Lake last weekend. The suspect fled the scene but was caught early on Sunday, bringing an end to the Island-wide search.

Serious Charges Filed

Police have officially charged the man with grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. The victim, a 21-year-old woman, suffered significant injuries in the brutal attack on Friday, December 20.

Court Appearance Set

The accused, named Simpson of Culver Parade, remains in custody. He is due to appear before Newport Magistrates Court on Monday.

“Officers investigating a serious assault which took place in the Lake area on the Isle of Wight have charged a man with GBH with intent and possession of an offensive weapon,” said an Isle of Wight Police spokesperson.
