Life for life: Killer gets life in jail for stabbing grandad in Worthing shocker
Brutal murder rocks quiet community
Sukhkit Bains, 46, was locked up for life after brutally murdering 72-year-old Michael Martin in Worthing. The vicious attack happened in March at Mr Martin’s home on St Botolph’s Road. Police found the grandad with fatal stab wounds and signs of a savage assault.
Killer tried to cover his tracks
Bains didn’t stop at murder. He tried to scrub away the evidence, tamper with the crime scene, and even lied to Mr Martin’s family — who later made the grim discovery.
Minimum 22 years before parole
Isleworth Crown Court sentenced Bains to life behind bars, with a minimum of 22 years before he can even apply for parole.
Family devastated
“He was our hero,” said one family member. “A loving father and grandfather who meant everything to us.”
Detective Inspector Amanda Zinyama slammed the “sustained and violent” assault, condemning Bains’ horrific actions that tore a family apart.
