Teen Banged Up After Ambulance Smash in M2 High-Speed Chase
A 19-year-old has been charged after a police chase ended with a blue VW Golf crashing into an ambulance near the M2 at Gillingham on Friday, 29 August.
Dangerous Driving Sparks Police Pursuit
Kent Police spotted the Golf driving recklessly on the coastbound carriageway near junction 3 just before 9pm. When officers flashed their blue lights, the driver refused to stop and exited the motorway at junction 4 (A278 Hoath Way).
Seconds later, the runaway vehicle smashed into an ambulance on the roundabout linking the slip road with the A278.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Paramedics rushed to the crash site. Two ambulance crew members were hospitalised with injuries confirmed as non-life-threatening.
Three men – including a teenage boy – were arrested after receiving medical attention at the scene.
Multiple Charges for Teen Driver
On Sunday, 31 August, Harry Foster-Smith, 19, from Brunswick Street, Bexleyheath, was hit with a string of charges:
- Three counts of causing injury by dangerous driving
- Aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent
- Driving without a valid licence
- Driving uninsured
- Possession of cannabis
Foster-Smith was remanded in custody and will appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 1 September.
An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, both from London, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
