Smuggling Ring Busted on Dublin-Belfast Train
Abad Ulla Alimi, who lives in Dublin, was stopped on November 19 while travelling with four other Afghan nationals, including a couple and their two young kids. Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers identified him as a key smuggling facilitator.
All five were attempting to sneak into the UK illegally through the Common Travel Area, exploiting the train route from Dublin to Belfast.
From France to the UK via Ireland
- The group is believed to have journeyed from France to Ireland before boarding the train to Belfast, with intentions to head onward to England.
- After his arrest, Alimi was grilled by NCA officers and charged with assisting unlawful immigration on November 20.
- He is due to face Laganside Magistrates Court the following day.
- The accompanying family was handed over to immigration authorities for processing.
The NCA is stepping up efforts to dismantle smuggling networks exploiting UK borders. This latest arrest highlights ongoing vigilance to stop illegal crossings.
