Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Police Officer Hit by Van
Kyle Woods from Wendover Road, Urmston, has been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving. The charges come after a chilling weekend incident where a police officer was deliberately targeted while responding to a call.
Officer Left Injured in Shocking Attack
On Sunday evening, 5 May 2024, an officer attended a domestic incident on Beech Road in Sale. During the call, he was struck by a van, suffering a fractured tibia. Thankfully, he is currently recovering from his injuries.
Community Rallies Behind Injured Officer
Woods was remanded in custody ahead of his court appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 8 May 2024.
Chief Superintendent Colette Rose of Trafford district said:
“On behalf of our officers, we’d like to thank the local community for their concern and well wishes to our injured colleague. Every day our officers respond to incidents to help and protect the public. They do not expect or deserve to be targeted in this way.”
Local detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.
