High-Speed Chase Ends with Arrest on the A27

A stolen car drama erupted on Christmas Eve as police hunted down a getaway driver across Surrey and West Sussex. The chase kicked off at 9.30pm on Sunday, December 24, following reports of a stolen vehicle hurtling along the M25 in Surrey.

Police Corner Suspect After Daring Pursuit

Officers from Surrey and Sussex combined forces, chasing the suspect who refused to stop. The nail-biting pursuit ended on the A27 in Lancing, where traffic cops boxed in the rogue driver and made the arrest.

Suspect Faces Multiple Serious Charges

The man in custody, 34-year-old Sonny Breakspear, who has no fixed address, now faces a slew of charges including:

  • Driving without the owner’s consent
  • Dangerous driving
  • Criminal damage to a police vehicle
  • Driving without a licence
  • Failing to stop
  • Driving without insurance

That’s not all. Breakspear is also charged with criminal damage and assault causing actual bodily harm from a December 8 incident in Surrey, plus malicious communication from a separate event on December 15.

Breakspear is due to face the music at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 27.
