Man Charged Over Fatal Double Stabbing in Coventry
A 50-year-old man has died following a brutal double stabbing on Newcombe Road, Coventry. Police have charged a suspect with murder and attempted murder.
Tragedy on Newcombe Road
West Midlands Police were called just before 2pm on Saturday, 15 March, after reports of two men seriously injured with stab wounds. Despite emergency efforts, Anthony Wilson, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man, also in his 50s, was rushed to hospital with potentially life-changing facial injuries.
Heartfelt Tributes Pour In for Victim
Anthony’s family paid a touching tribute, saying:
“We are profoundly sorry that his life has been taken in this way. The tragic circumstances are particularly distressing, and we are grateful to learn of the help and support received at the time from his neighbours and friends.”
The family shared a photo of Anthony smiling in his younger years, remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Suspect in Court Following Charges
James Ritchie, 51, of no fixed address, was charged on Sunday night with murder and attempted murder. He appeared before Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
West Midlands Police say they will increase patrols around Newcombe Road to reassure the local community.

Detectives continue to investigate and appeal for witnesses. A police spokesperson said:
“We understand this incident has caused great shock in the community. Our thoughts remain with Anthony’s family at this incredibly difficult time, and we are committed to seeking justice.”
