Man Charged with Murder of Anita Rose After Brutal Attack

A 55-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Anita Rose, 57, following a chilling three-month police probe into her death in Brantham, Suffolk.

Roy Barclay Held for Murder of Mother of Six

Roy Barclay, currently of no fixed address, was charged on Tuesday evening. Police arrested him Monday morning on suspicion of murder. He is due to appear at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The Attack That Shocked Brantham

The terrifying incident happened on July 24. At around 6:25am, Anita Rose was found unconscious near a railway track off Rectory Lane.

  • She had left her home around 5am to walk her springer spaniel, Bruce.
  • When found, she was only wearing a bra on top, leggings, and trainers—her jacket was nowhere to be seen.
  • CCTV footage shows Ms Rose on her usual walking route before the attack occurred.

Emergency crews rushed her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in cambridge/" title="Cambridge" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Cambridge in critical condition. She suffered severe head and brain injuries and sadly died four days later on July 28.

Community Rattled, Police Seek Witnesses

Suffolk Constabulary confirmed the investigation is ongoing. They urge anyone with information on Anita’s final movements to come forward. A spokesperson said, “This has been a complex investigation, and we remain committed to securing justice for Anita and her family.”
