Man Charged with Murder of Teen Found with Fatal Head Injury in Peterborough
Tragic Death on Wellington Street
Ben Procter, 19, was found collapsed with a fatal head injury on Wellington Street, Peterborough, just before midnight on Sunday. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at 00:36 on Monday.
Accused to Face Court
Ako Mohammad, 33, from Lincoln Road, Peterborough, has been charged with Ben’s murder. He is due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court this Wednesday.
Police Hunt for Dashcam and CCTV Footage
Cambridgeshire Police are urgently seeking dashcam and CCTV clips from Wellington Street, Star Road, and Boongate. They want footage from 10pm on 15 September to aid their investigation.
Investigation Underway
A post-mortem will take place at Peterborough City Hospital on Wednesday to confirm the cause of death.
Detective Inspector Richard Stott of Cambridgeshire Police Major Crime Unit said: “We understand this incident will worry local people, but we believe it to be isolated. Extra patrols are in place. Our thoughts are with Ben’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers.”
