Man in 60s Dies After Brutal Ramsgate Attack
A man in his 60s has died in hospital weeks after a savage assault in Ramsgate town centre. Kent Police have launched a homicide investigation following the tragic death.
Violent Attack on Harbour Street
The horrific incident happened at 10.41pm on Friday, March 28, on Harbour Street. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a violent attack. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to King’s College Hospital in London, where he later died over the weekend.
Suspect Already in Custody
Marshall Mitchell, 34, from Crescent Road, Ramsgate, was previously arrested and charged with unlawful wounding. He appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court on March 31 and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is set for Canterbury Crown Court on April 28.
With the victim’s death now confirmed, police are expected to upgrade the charges against Mitchell.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
A Kent Police spokesperson said:
“Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are in contact with those involved, and enquiries are ongoing. We thank the public for their support and urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.”
Following the attack, a forensic investigation van was seen at the scene, and police maintained a cordon overnight to collect evidence.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
