Brutal Dog Abuser Jailed and Banned for Life

Man Locked Up Over Shocking Abuse of Dog ‘Mulla’

A 23-year-old man has been jailed for a year and banned for life from keeping animals after torturing his dog, Mulla. Mason Lukeman from Clacton-on-Sea pleaded guilty to six animal welfare offences at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 20 February.

Mulla’s Horrific Injuries Exposed

Mulla was found locked in a bathroom, suffering from horrifying injuries. Fresh cuts, blood dripping from her mouth, swollen face, gunky eyes, and visible ribs painted a gruesome picture. Vet checks revealed a fractured skull, broken ribs, fractured cheekbones, a dislocated tail, and countless wounds from repeated blunt force trauma. One eye was so badly damaged it had to be removed.

An expert report confirmed Mulla faced “repetitive traumatic episodes” including a violent attack just before her rescue.

Heroic Rescue and New Lease of Life

A lettings agent’s concern led to Mulla’s rescue on 9 January 2024. She was rushed to emergency care and later transferred to the RSPCA’s Finsbury Park Animal Hospital. Against the odds, Mulla made a stunning recovery. Now renamed Hope, she’s found a loving new family.

“The sheer amount of severe injuries that Mulla sustained are shocking — from her head to her tail. Her injuries tell a heartbreaking story of repeated abuse,” said RSPCA Inspector Emma Beynon. “This case will haunt me for a long time. I hope this sentence sends a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.”

Justice Served

Lukeman was sentenced to 12 months behind bars. He also faces a lifetime ban on owning animals and must pay a £154 victim surcharge.

The RSPCA praised vets, police, and all involved in securing justice for Hope. Animal abuse will not be swept under the carpet.
