Sex Offender Slapped with 13 Years for Rape in Central London Attack

Violent Rape Shocker Rocks Southwark

A man has been slammed with a 13-year prison sentence after being found guilty of two counts of rape. Rashane Lee, 26, of Old Kent Road, Southwark, was convicted at Inner London Crown Court following a savage attack on a lone woman in Central London.

The court heard the victim had been out with her sister and friends on June 1, 2024, before Lee approached her late at night. Claiming they were heading the same way, Lee ignored her refusals and led her to a secluded spot where he violently raped her.

DNA Evidence Nails Rape Suspect

Thanks to a meticulous Metropolitan Police investigation, Lee was linked to the crime via forensic evidence. CCTV footage tracked him down, and DNA analysis proved a one-in-a-billion match. Lee was arrested on June 11 at his partner’s home.

Despite the damning evidence, Lee denied involvement, bizarrely claiming the DNA samples were contaminated or even that his DNA “had changed.” The jury wasn’t having it, reaching a unanimous verdict in under two hours.

Repeat Offender Finally Locked Up

Detective Constable Jack Woods praised the victim’s courage: “This verdict is testament to the bravery of the victim whose evidence helped us secure this conviction.” Woods slammed Lee as a dangerous predator who targeted a vulnerable woman hoping she’d be too intoxicated to report him.

It also emerged Lee was already on the sex offenders register for a similar rape conviction in 2016. Released from prison in September 2022, he was only being monitored on a limited basis by the Probation Service and Met’s Jigsaw team.

Harsh Sentence with Long-Term Supervision

Along with his 13-year jail term, Lee received an additional seven years of licence extension, meaning he’ll remain under strict supervision after release. Police say the case sends a strong message: sexual violence allegations will always be taken seriously and aggressively pursued.

“We will always do everything we can to ensure predators like Lee are taken off the streets,” said DC Woods.
