Gunpoint Robber Jailed for 14 Years After Sex Workers’ Bravery

A 26-year-old man has been locked up for 14 years after committing a daylight robbery and attempted robbery at gunpoint, targeting two vulnerable sex workers in Kensington. Thanks to a strong police investigation and the courage of the victims, justice has been served.

Robber’s Shocking Crime Spree

Ismail Tajzai, from Moberly Road, SW4, appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, 18 October. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges including robbery, attempted robbery, making threats to kill, strangulation, and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit a crime.

The offences happened on 21 and 22 February. Tajzai arranged meetings with two sex workers and then launched his terrifying attacks. On the first day, he pulled a handgun on his victim, tied her up, and robbed her of around £2,000. The next day, he threatened another woman with the same weapon, struck her, and tried to strangle her before fleeing.

Police Smash The Case With Key Evidence

Westminster Public Protection detectives led the investigation. They identified Tajzai through DNA and fingerprints found at the scene. CCTV footage also revealed his face, sealing the case. When police arrested him, they found the gun and cable ties hidden in a backpack thrown from a balcony.

Detectives Praise Victims’ Bravery

“This case shows police support for all victims of crime to bring violent offenders to justice,” said Detective Constable Stephanie Clarke. “The defendant targeted vulnerable sex workers, hoping they wouldn’t report him. But these women showed incredible bravery. I urge others in similar situations to come forward. We’re here to support you.”

Detective Inspector Luke Bacon added, “My team’s swift action caught this dangerous man before more attacks could happen. The victims’ courage made all the difference.”

The court also issued a restraining order, barring Tajzai from contacting the victims. This case highlights the police commitment to protecting the vulnerable and delivering justice—no matter the victim’s background.
