Aylesbury Man Gets 5½ Years for Brutal Rape

Jack Powell, 24, from Griffin Lane, Aylesbury, was slammed with a five and a half year jail sentence after being found guilty of rape and sexual assault. His conviction came following a Thames Valley Police probe and a trial at Reading Crown Court on Monday, September 2.

Unanimous Verdict for Chilling Attack

Powell was unanimously found guilty of one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration. The shocking offences took place on July 7, 2020, when he attacked a woman in her twenties at a property in Aylesbury. Police swiftly arrested him on July 17, and he was formally charged that December.

Victim’s Bravery Praised by Police

“I would like to pay tribute to the victim in this case, as she has displayed tremendous dignity and bravery to support our investigation to bring Powell to justice,” said Sergeant Samuel Summers of Thames Valley Police.

Sgt Summers stressed the vital need to fight violence against women and girls. He added, “I am pleased that Powell is now in prison where he belongs.” The force reaffirmed its dedication to supporting victims and cracking down on offenders.

Thames Valley Police Urge Victims to Speak Out

Thames Valley Police want anyone affected by sexual violence or suspecting someone vulnerable to get help immediately. Victims can call 101 or visit a local police station to find specially trained officers ready to provide support and guidance.
