Drugs dealer caught red-handed with £30,000 stash and crack cocaine in Middlesbrough
Hamza’s drug-running exposed
Mohammed Hamza, 22, from Vayner Drive, was caught running a Class A drug operation across Middlesbrough. He used a car to drop off drugs, collect cash, and carry out deals, sometimes sending others to do the dirty work for him.
On 24 May 2023, police stopped Hamza on Surrey Street, seizing cash and his mobile phone. He was arrested on suspicion of Class A drug supply and taken into custody.
Evidence mounts after phone closely examined
Although Hamza was initially released after questioning, officers launched a deeper investigation. They scrutinised his phone and monitored his activities for months.
On 11 December 2023, a member of the public spotted Hamza on Longford Street, Middlesbrough, openly exchanging drugs from the passenger side of his grey BMW. The tip-off led police to take action.
Police swoop reveals huge cash haul and drugs
Officers stopped Hamza’s BMW and arrested him. A large sum of money was hidden in his chest pocket, and a strip search uncovered wraps of crack cocaine.
Searching Hamza’s home uncovered a sports bag stuffed with over £30,000 in cash in the attic. Another £500 was found in the kitchen alongside two burner phones used to arrange drug sales.
Hard justice for Middlesbrough dealer
Following the arrest and mounting evidence, Hamza was charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and money laundering. On 29 June, he pleaded guilty at Teesside Magistrates Court.
He was sentenced to four years and three months behind bars — putting a brake on his illegal drug empire.
