Police Praise Victim’s Bravery Amid “Horrific” Crime

Detective Sergeant Qadir Hussain said: “I commend the victim for her bravery throughout this investigation and for having the strength to report this horrific crime to Greater Manchester Police. This was undoubtedly a long and distressing investigation for the victim and her loved ones.”

“Murambakanda preyed on her vulnerability. He struck up conversation outside her home, then met her several times over three days before the attack. He gained her trust, even coaxed her into giving her bank card PIN.”

“He spiked her tea to stupefy her, then forcibly removed her clothing and raped her without consent. Afterwards, he left her alone and stole around £650 from her bank account.”

“His crimes are horrific and his lack of remorse is despicable. Murambakanda is a dangerous individual who fully deserves the sentence imposed.”

“The victim’s courage has been incredible from start to finish. I hope this conviction helps her find some closure and rebuild her life.”

“Greater Manchester Police take sexual assault reports extremely seriously. We will believe you, support you, and do everything to bring offenders to justice.”
