Monster Sentenced to Life for Horrific Domestic Abuse
Ryan Schofield, 34, from Whiteacre Road, Ashton-under-Lyne, has been locked up for life at Bolton Crown Court. On Thursday 3 April 2025, he received a minimum 13-year sentence for a chilling campaign of domestic violence and sexual offences.
Campaign of Abuse Started Online
The court heard Schofield’s abuse began with online grooming. Between March and October 2022, his behaviour escalated from manipulation to violent physical and sexual assaults, trapping his victim in a terrifying prison of fear.
His arrest followed a breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order linked to a previous conviction. Police found damning evidence on his phone exposing the full scale of his crimes.
Victim’s Bravery Praised by Police
Detective Constable Chris Doran from the Tameside Challenger Team hailed the victim’s courage, saying:
“I would like to commend the bravery of the victim in this case. I cannot begin to imagine her pain and suffering but hope she finds solace in the sentence this monster was handed today.”
DC Doran highlighted the ongoing support offered to survivors, reinforcing Greater Manchester Police’s zero-tolerance approach to domestic abuse.

The Tameside Challenger Team cracked the case open, revealing Schofield’s predatory nature. His guilty plea secured a life sentence with no parole possibility for at least 13 years.
