Teen Faces 5 Years for Daring Knife Attack Outside Croydon College
A brazen knife assault outside Croydon University Centre has landed 20-year-old Kieron Salisbury in hot water, with a potential prison sentence of over five years. On September 25, 2023, Salisbury casually approached his victim and stabbed him twice in broad daylight, Croydon Crown Court revealed on May 22.
Shocking CCTV Captures Knife Attack
CCTV footage shows the victim resting against a bollard with his electric scooter at around 1.15pm when Salisbury, disguised in a grey hoodie and black face mask, suddenly charged. He lunged a knife at the man’s face, sparking a violent struggle that left Salisbury’s mask knocked off.
Despite being stabbed twice—in the chest and left thigh—the victim managed to stagger away as Salisbury fled the scene, clutching the weapon. Police never found the knife used, but a “large machete” was later recovered from Salisbury’s home.
Victim Traumatized, E-Scooter Stolen During Attack
Prosecutor Margaret Anucha revealed that the victim suffered a 1cm chest wound and a 3cm cut to his thigh. Meanwhile, another group of youths stole the man’s e-scooter during the chaos.
“The trauma of the stabbing has left me battling alcohol abuse, nightmares, and psychotic episodes,” the victim said in an impact statement. He also accused Salisbury of previous violent attacks, including kicking his front door and jumping him on other occasions.
Judge Issues Stern Warning as Case Continues
Defence lawyer Sahara Fergus-Simms claimed Salisbury showed remorse during meetings. But Judge Deborah Charles wasn’t convinced, accusing the knifeman of lying about the extent of the attack. “He’s not telling the truth to the pre-sentence report author,” she said. “He claims he hit once. That’s false.”
Salisbury was granted conditional bail but banned from entering the M25 area. Judge Charles cautioned him: bail doesn’t mean freedom. “Prepare for immediate custody on your return,” she warned. Salisbury left the court flanked by his father, who sat quietly in the public gallery.
