Drug Dealer Jailed for 14 Years Over Brutal Attack That Led to Man’s Death

A drug dealer has been locked up for over 14 years after viciously attacking a man who later died from his injuries. Mohammed Faisal Ubaid, from Denver Road, was sentenced today at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court following his guilty plea to manslaughter and conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Chilling CCTV Shows Moments Before Fatal Attack

Just one day before the deadly assault on 4 September 2019, CCTV outside Ubaid’s house captured him aggressively pointing and accusing John Rimmer. Witnesses revealed John had already suffered injuries in previous attacks from Ubaid, showing bruises on his face.

The next day, CCTV showed John entering Ubaid’s house alone with him. Later, a man arrived carrying John’s unconscious body to his car before rushing him to Rochdale Infirmary. John suffered severe brain injuries and was transferred to Oldham Hospital, where he died the following day.

Blood-Stained Trainers and Drug Links Seal Ubaid’s Fate

Police found Ubaid’s blood-stained trainers contained John’s DNA. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and charged shortly after.

Detectives uncovered messages proving John was working for Ubaid delivering class A drugs, with the victim describing himself as ‘running for Cabs’—Ubaid’s nickname in the drug trade. Investigators believe Ubaid suspected John of stealing drugs, triggering the fatal attack.

Police Praise Community for Brave Witnesses

“John was a straightforward and honest man who shared love with those around him,” said Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin.

“Ubaid’s relentless bullying led to John’s tragic death. After the attack, he involved others to hide what he’d done. The CCTV footage was crucial in landing this violent man behind bars.

“I want to thank the community and brave witnesses who helped secure justice. Without them, Ubaid might not have pleaded guilty. We hope this sentence offers some comfort to John’s family and sends a clear warning about the deadly consequences of drug dealing.”
