Manchester Arena Bomber Faces New Charges After Prison Attack
Hashem Abedi, the Manchester Arena bomb mastermind, has been hit with fresh charges following a violent incident behind bars.
Prison Attack Leaves Officers Hurt
On 12 April 2025, Abedi allegedly launched an attack at HMP Frankland, injuring four prison officers. The 28-year-old now faces three counts of attempted murder.
The violent episode is under joint investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East and Durham Constabulary.

- One count of unauthorised possession of a knife or offensive weapon
Abedi is due to appear at 1 on 18 September. He remains behind bars.
