A manhunt is underway after Carl Hyde, 67, escaped from his approved premises in Peterborough. Hyde, serving a life sentence for a 1988 murder, breached his licence conditions and is now on the loose.

Police Issue Urgent Appeal to Public

Authorities are searching urgently but warn the public not to approach Hyde. Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “The public are advised not to approach Hyde, but to contact police with information on his whereabouts.”

Hyde has strong ties to Reading. Anyone with immediate information is urged to call 999 straight away. For less urgent tips, police ask that you report online with reference to incident number 336 of January 1.
