Met Police Officer Faces Shocking Rape and Stalking Charges
PC Jake Cummings, 23, a serving Met officer from Hemel Hempstead, has pleaded not guilty to serious charges including rape, stalking, and coercive control, a court has heard. The allegations stretch from January 2022 to February 2024 and involve a single female victim whose identity is legally protected.
Allegations Paint a Dark Picture
Cummings stands accused of installing hidden cameras at the victim’s workplace to spy on her every move. He allegedly controlled her life by isolating her from family and friends and installing tracking software on her phone. Disturbingly, it is claimed he emotionally manipulated the woman by threatening to take his own life and forced unnecessary medical appointments she could not attend without him.
Off-Duty Crimes Lead to Suspension
The offences reportedly occurred even when Cummings was off duty, prompting his suspension from the Metropolitan Police’s Central West Command. Despite the grave accusations, the officer entered formal pleas of not guilty to all charges during his hearing at St Albans Crown Court.
Judge Remands PC Cummings in Custody
Presiding Judge Francis Sheridan sent Cummings into custody ahead of a further hearing set for May 17. Prosecutors will continue to build their case against the officer accused of abusing his position of trust and committing disturbing acts behind closed doors.
