A Milford Haven couple has been locked up after police found more than 50 animals living in shocking, filthy conditions. Some were severely neglected, and others were found dead.
Shocking Animal Cruelty Revealed
On December 29, 2024, Dyfed-Powys Police and the RSPCA raided a property on Coombs Road. They rescued 52 animals, including 29 dogs, 17 snakes, and exotic pets like a tortoise, gecko, and monitor lizard. Many were trapped in filthy cages surrounded by urine, faeces, and rubbish.
Tragically, two dogs and a snake were discovered dead at the scene. Vets later found one dog had a ruptured rectum, while another was dangerously emaciated.
Prison Sentences and Long Animal Bans
Zoe Louise Graham, 32, was sentenced to 18 months in jail and banned from keeping animals for 15 years. Lee Peter Lock, 37, received 27 months behind bars plus a 25-year animal ban. Both pleaded guilty to multiple animal welfare offences at Swansea Crown Court.
RSPCA Inspector Keith Hogben said: “I was met by an overpowering smell of dog faeces and urine. The animals were confined to cramped cages in filthy conditions.”
Animals Rescued, Some Sadly Lost
Many animals needed emergency veterinary care. While some sadly died or had to be euthanised on welfare or legal grounds, most dogs have now been rehomed and are recovering.
Couple Claim Good Intentions Gone Wrong
In court, the couple said they intended to help homeless animals but lost control of the situation. The case has reignited calls for tougher animal welfare laws and stronger enforcement.
