A two-year-old boy’s tragic abuse case has rocked the capital after his mum and her boyfriend were found guilty of causing his death. Kol Page endured unimaginable horror before finally succumbing at four years old.
Horrific Abuse Uncovered
On 25 April 2022, paramedics found little Kol not breathing, battered with bruises and a serious abdominal injury from being punched or stomped on. He clung to life against all odds but died two years later on 29 June 2024.
Despite the brutal assaults, mum Zoe Coutts, 35, and boyfriend Scott O’Connor, 36, spun wild lies blaming Kol’s injuries on clumsiness and tried to pin blame on each other.
Brutal Parents Convicted
- Zoe Coutts was convicted of allowing the death of a child.
- Scott O’Connor was convicted of manslaughter.
Both escaped murder convictions but face sentencing at Southwark Crown Court on 8 May.
“Kol was an innocent boy who suffered horrific abuse where he should have been safest—at home,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn. “The relentless detective work exposed the lies and the awful truth.”
“Kol was boisterous, cheeky and loved by all. He deserved so much better,” she added.
Timeline of Terror
- 24 April 2022: After heavy drinking, Coutts and O’Connor returned home.
- Next morning: Police called to Kol’s critical condition with bruises and severe injuries.
- Kol suffered catastrophic brain damage needing round-the-clock care.
- Spent 14 months hospitalised, then fostered in a loving home.
- Passed away two years later due to injury complications.
O’Connor claimed Kol fell from his cot onto bricks. Coutts gave conflicting stories and the pair accused each other. Police evidence told a far darker tale.
Terrifying Evidence and Chilling Messages
- O’Connor visited the home 28 times in the month before Kol’s collapse, often overnight despite restrictions.
- Photos showed worsening bruises, black eyes, and bald patches from hair being torn out.
- Medical experts ruled injuries could only come from adult assaults.
They exchanged sick jokes like: “Jesus slap him back to sleep lol” and “It’s the whining that drives me insane haha.”
While Kol lay unconscious, they messaged each other about hangovers and dinner — never his condition.
Tragically, Coutts delayed calling an ambulance, wasting vital time and worsening Kol’s brain damage.
Justice for Kol
Coutts was arrested shortly after the April 2022 incident, charged with grievous bodily harm, and later murder after Kol died. O’Connor faced similar charges.
The Met Police emphasise safeguarding children and tackling domestic abuse as a priority and hope this case serves as a stark warning against child cruelty.
