Two Men Charged with Murder Over 2019 Brighton Attack
Nearly six years on, cops have finally charged two men with murder following a savage assault that claimed the life of Cameron Devlin in Brighton.
Brutal Attack on North Street Ends in Death
Cameron, 34, was viciously attacked by a group on North Street in the early hours of 21 December 2019. He suffered a serious shoulder injury and despite medical efforts, tragically died from complications just five days later on Christmas Day.
Quick Arrests, Years of Investigation Lead to Charges
Police swiftly arrested four suspects at Brighton Station on the night of the assault, with a fifth caught the following month. After a long, complex probe involving national crime experts, the Crown Prosecution Service has now authorised murder charges against two men:
- Oliver Priddle, 25, from Peacock Lane, Brighton
- Niraj Amaidas, 24, from Colwyn Close, Crawley
Both face murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent charges. Priddle is also charged with possession of a Class C drug. They will appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 25 September.
Detective Inspector Issues Statement
“This has been a lengthy and complex investigation, which has taken a considerable period of time to reach this stage,” said Detective Inspector James Meanwell of the Major Crime Team. “Following the conclusion of all necessary enquiries, charges have now been authorised. Our thoughts remain with Cameron’s family, and they will be fully supported as proceedings continue. They ask for privacy at this time.”
