Body Found in Forest of Bowland Believed to Be Missing Woman Katie Kenyon
Police made a grim discovery last night (Friday, April 29) in the Forest of Bowland after receiving new information about Katie Kenyon’s possible location. Although they have yet to formally confirm the identity, officers believe the body found is that of Katie.
Family Informed and Supported
Katie’s family have been told and are being supported by specially trained officers during this heartbreaking time. A Home Office post-mortem will now determine the cause of death.
“Following extensive police enquiries and days of searching, I can sadly confirm we have found a body believed to be Katie Kenyon,” said Det Supt Gary Brooks, head of Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation Unit.
“My heart goes out to her family. We have officers supporting them through this difficult time.”
“Thanks to the public, media, partner agencies, police officers, and staff for their help during this complex and emotional search. While it’s not the outcome we hoped for, the family appreciate every effort made.”
“My thoughts remain with Katie’s loved ones today.”
Man Charged with Katie’s Murder
On the same day, a 50-year-old man from Burnley was charged with Katie’s murder. Andrew Burfield of Todmorden Road appeared at crown court and will face trial in November.
