Liam Reynolds Jailed for Living with 50+ Animals Despite Animal Ban

A man banned from keeping animals has been locked up for 26 weeks after authorities found over 50 creatures living in filthy conditions at his Plymouth home. The haul included cats, dogs, birds, and fish.

Liam Reynolds, from Flamborough Way, flagrantly ignored a court ban. An RSPCA probe uncovered the shocking breach and the appalling state the animals were forced to endure.

Ban Extended to 30 Years After Repeat Offences

Reynolds was first banned in 2019 after admitting neglect of six dogs. In 2021, he broke the ban twice, leading to today’s tough sentence.

Magistrates have now slammed a 30-year ban on Reynolds keeping animals — with no appeal allowed for 20 years. Plus, he must cough up £400 in costs.

“You have persistently and continuously breached your disqualification and you are cruel and not safe to be with animals — you make them suffer. The only option is prison.”

The court rejected his plea for a fine instead of jail time.

Partner Emily Dart Also Banned and Fined

Reynolds’ partner, Emily Dart, also of Flamborough Way, landed a seven-year animal ban with no appeal for five years. She was jointly charged with neglect involving two dogs and five cats.

Dart was fined £300 and ordered to pay £300 in court costs.

Animals Rescued and RSPCA Launches Rehoming

All animals in Reynolds and Dart’s care, including dogs Cinders and Roxy, and cats Aslan, Sissy, Gracie, Mavis, and Winifred, were seized by the RSPCA. Rehoming efforts are now underway.

RSPCA Calls for Vigilance Against Repeat Abusers

An RSPCA spokesperson said this case highlights the need to enforce bans strictly and praised the public for reporting concerns that triggered the investigation.
