Man Charged with Murder After Woman Found Dead in Croydon Home
Early Morning Tragedy in Croydon
A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Croydon, South London, over the weekend. Earlston Bennet, 57, of Towpath Way, Croydon, was formally charged on Monday, April 14. He is due to appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 15.
Police were called to a Towpath Way address at around 4:55am on Saturday, April 12, after reports of a serious incident. Despite emergency services rushing to the scene, a 58-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the location.
Although formal identification is pending, police have named the victim as Sarah Reynolds. Her family is receiving support from specially trained officers during this difficult time.
Suspect Known to Victim
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Bennet was known to Sarah Reynolds. Authorities are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
“Detectives continue their work to build a picture of Sarah’s life in the weeks leading up to her death,” the Met said in a statement.
Investigators are urging anyone who interacted with Sarah or saw her recently to come forward to assist with enquiries.
