Man Charged with Murder in Basildon Woman’s Disappearance
Madison Wright Missing Since July 22
Police have charged a man with murder in the case of missing Basildon woman Madison Wright. The 30-year-old vanished on the morning of Friday, July 22. Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched an urgent probe into her disappearance and swiftly made an arrest last Friday.
Garry Bennett to Appear in Court
Garry Bennett, 36, from Caister Drive, Pitsea, now faces a murder charge. He is set to appear at Southend Magistrates Court on Monday, August 1, 2022.
Body Found at Wat Tyler Country Park
A body was discovered on Saturday, July 30, at Wat Tyler Country Park. Authorities have yet to formally identify the victim but have informed Madison’s family, who are receiving support from specialist detectives. The park and nearby recycling centre remain closed as police continue their inquiries.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Evidence
Officers urge anyone who saw Madison or her black Vauxhall Astra (registration EU13 JVW) between 8:30 a.m. on July 22 and July 26 to come forward. “If you have any information, CCTV, dashcam, or footage, please contact us,” police said.
