Kane Hull Jailed Again for Arson Conspiracy While Behind Bars
Murderer Caught Plotting Fire Attack from Prison
Kane Hull, 30, already serving a life sentence for a fatal stabbing in Carlisle, was slammed with another jail term today (July 5). While awaiting his murder trial last year, Hull teamed up with Steven Kidd, 25, to plot arson.
Fire in Carlisle Linked to Hull’s Threats
On October 3, emergency services rushed to tackle a car fire in the west of Carlisle. The vehicle belonged to a relative of someone connected to Hull. Police cracked the case thanks to text messages between Hull and Kidd – including chilling threats about “setting your gafs on fire.”
Both Men Admit Guilt, Face Jail Time
- Hull confessed to conspiring to commit arson and possessing banned mobile phones in prison.
- He was hit with an extra 30-month sentence.
- Kidd, of Haydock Drive, Carlisle, pled guilty to conspiracy, driving while disqualified, and using an uninsured vehicle.
- He was sentenced to 37 months behind bars.
Detective Vows to Hunt Down Prison Criminals
“We will relentlessly pursue criminals like Hull, who believe they can carry on threatening and committing serious offences even from behind bars,” said Detective Inspector Martyn Park.
“Cumbria is safer with Hull locked up. We will fully investigate any attempts at further offending.”
“Anyone conspiring with offenders like Hull, such as Kidd, will face prosecution and jail time. We won’t tolerate this crime in our communities.”
