Portsmouth Man Jailed for Stalking and Abuse

A Portsmouth man has been slammed with a 3 year 9 month prison sentence for controlling and coercive behaviour in a family relationship.

Daniel Paddon, 43, of Aylward Street, Portsmouth, was found guilty after an eight-day trial at Portsmouth Crown Court. He denied the charges but the jury convicted him of stalking and terrorising his victim between August and November 2023.

Horrifying Abuse Uncovered

The court heard Paddon went to extreme lengths to control and intimidate his victim. He installed a tracking device on her car, repeatedly showed up at her home and refused to leave, even kicking down her door. He bombarded her with abusive and threatening messages, including threats to harm her and her family. Some messages included pin locations, showing he was lurking outside her family’s homes.

The victim revealed she was so scared she had to board up her house with wooden planks. She told police she felt hopeless and terrified.

Restraining Order and Strong Sentencing

Paddon was sentenced on 5 November 2024. Along with prison time, the court slapped him with a restraining order banning any direct or indirect contact with the victim and excluding him from her address.

Police Urge Victims to Speak Out

DI Katt Green, from the Eastern CID, said: “Paddon’s conduct has caused the victim considerable distress and anguish. Controlling coercive behaviour is isolating and devastating.

“We take all reports seriously and hope this sentence encourages victims to come forward. You will be supported.

“Don’t suffer in silence. If you are being harassed, stalked, or controlled, report it to police or independent support services.”
