Cousins Jailed for Decades Over Horrific 1990s Child Abuse Spree

Two cousins have been locked up for decades after a ruthless “campaign of rape” targeting vulnerable teenage girls in the 1990s. Manzorr Hussain, 55, and Imtiaz Ali, 54, were found guilty at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court of grooming and sexually abusing five young victims across Bury and parts of Wales.

Manzorr Hussain Gets 30 Years, Imtiaz Ali Jailed for 28 for Sickening Abuse

Hussain, from Bury, was handed 30 years after being convicted of seven rapes and six indecent assaults. Radcliffe resident Ali received 28 years for five rapes, five indecent assaults, and one attempted indecent assault.

The pair used booze, drugs, money, and fake promises of lifts to lure their victims before abusing them in homes, cars, and other grim locations. Their horrors stretched over years, with victims often forced into silence through threats and coercion.

Survivors Speak Out: Trauma That Lasted Decades

“It’s been an incredibly difficult time, having to relive what happened. The offences those men committed have caused a lot of trauma. My family and friends deserve closure,” one survivor said.

“I lost my childhood, education, and career. I’m unable to work. They stole my dignity, self-worth, trust and identity. Every day is a battle, some days feel impossible.”

Police Pledge to Catch Predators, No Matter How Long Ago the Crime

Chief Inspector Ian Partington praised the victims’ bravery, saying their testimony was vital. “Manzorr Hussain and Imtiaz Ali are predators who targeted vulnerable girls. Detailed memories and historic social services records helped us link them to the crimes. Our teams work relentlessly to protect children and bring offenders to justice. Time is no barrier — abuse, no matter how old, will be prosecuted.”

CPS Specialist Prosecutor Claire Brinton added: “These sentences reflect the gravity of Hussain and Ali’s crimes. They showed no remorse and inflicted unimaginable trauma on these women for decades. We hope this justice brings closure and sends a clear message that offenders will be held accountable.”
