One Punch Fury: Man Jailed for Brutal Harbour Street Killing
Marshall Mitchell, 35, of Ramsgate, has been locked up for nine years after a deadly one-punch attack outside a pub on Harbour Street.
The unprovoked blow on Friday, 28 March 2025, left 68-year-old Jim Castle fatally injured. Mitchell’s single hit sent Castle crashing to the pavement, where he struck his head hard.
Victim Dies from Traumatic Brain Injury
Castle was rushed to a London hospital but sadly died on 18 April 2025. A postmortem confirmed he died from a traumatic brain injury caused in the assault.
CCTV Snaps Suspect – Arrest Follows Fast
Mitchell fled before ambulance crews arrived. But police used CCTV footage to track him down and arrested him the very next day.
He later pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Canterbury Crown Court and received his nine-year sentence on Monday, 1 December 2025.
Detective’s Stark Warning After Fatal Attack
“This was a senseless act of violence that cost a man his life,” said Detective Sergeant Dean Sycamore. “A single punch led to irreversible consequences, leaving a family devastated and grieving.
“I welcome the sentence handed down by the court and hope it offers some measure of justice to the victim’s loved ones. This tragic incident serves as a reminder to others: a single moment of aggression can be fatal. Think before you act.”
