Leicester Man Jailed for Raping Woman After Party
Brutal Attack Followed Night Out
Danny Pechap, 21, has been handed a hefty seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence for raping a woman in her 20s. The shocking attack happened after a party on Friday, 26 April, where both attended but barely knew each other.
Pechap, from Birds Nest Avenue, Leicester, returned to the address where the victim was staying and assaulted her while she slept.
Victim’s Morning Horror Leads to Arrest
The next morning, the victim woke to find her shorts on backwards and stained with blood. She immediately went to A&E and reported the assault to police.
Known to the victim’s sister, Pechap was swiftly arrested. The investigation included seizing multiple mobile phones, DNA samples, and clothing items.
Crucial Evidence Found on Phones
Emma Bailey, lead officer from the police’s Signal team, revealed chilling details: “Two mobile phones were taken from the defendant, one of which showed videos of the assault taking place. He took advantage of her, taking off her clothes while she was unable to stop him.”
The victim also noticed a bedsheet was missing from the room. Pechap admitted to taking it, claiming it was blood-stained and that he threw it away to hide evidence. The sheet was never recovered.
Justice Served at Leicester Crown Court
Pechap pleaded guilty to one count of rape at Leicester Crown Court on 29 August. Today, 10 October, he was sentenced to seven and a half years behind bars.
Miss Bailey added, “No one should be left to feel scared or vulnerable after being sexually assaulted. This young woman has shown incredible courage.”
