Persistent thief banned from Margate shops after jail stint

Criminal Behaviour Order slams the door on Diana Mikova

A notorious local troublemaker has been slapped with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning her from key Margate shops. Diana Mikova, 27, once jailed for vehicle interference and assault, now faces strict limits after Kent Police stepped in to shield local businesses from her antics.

Jail time didn’t stop Mikova’s mischief

Mikova, formerly of New Cross Street, was handed 39 weeks behind bars in December 2024. Since her release, authorities refused to take chances and secured the tough CBO on January 9th, 2025 at East Kent Magistrates’ Court.

The order forbids Mikova from:

  • Touching or entering vehicles without permission
  • Carrying bank cards not in her name
  • Stepping foot in College Walk, Boots in Margate, and Tesco on Northdown Road in Cliftonville

Local businesses breathe a sigh of relief

The court heard how Mikova’s long history of shoplifting left local traders battered and residents on edge.

PC Michelle Sherwood, involved in the case, said:

“I’m pleased Mikova’s latest sentence gives Margate’s people and businesses a much-needed break. This order is a chance for her to reflect and hopefully turn her life around.”

“It also reassures the community and protects local shops from further harm.”

Police on high alert for any breaches

Breaking the CBO is a criminal offence and could land Mikova back behind bars. Kent Police urge the public to report any suspicious behaviour by Mikova or others causing trouble.

The force continues its crackdown on repeat offenders, encouraging residents and traders to raise concerns via the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
