A notorious shoplifter has finally been caught after a month-long spree grabbing nearly £1,000 worth of goods across Sussex. Lee Cummings, 23, was nabbed red-handed after swiping everything from booze to Lego.
16 Thefts in Just Weeks
Cummings, from Worthing, admitted to 16 thefts at Brighton Magistrates’ Court last Friday. His haul included bottles of wine, beer, spirits, meat joints, Yankee candles, Lego sets, and even laundry products, all stolen during November.
Jail Time and a Retail Ban
The court handed Cummings 20 weeks in jail. On top of that, he’s been hit with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from stepping foot in any Co-Op, B&M, or Marks & Spencer stores across Sussex. He also faces a £184 surcharge.
Police Crack Down on Shoplifting
“Repeat offenders hit local businesses hard,” said Inspector Sharon Sawyer. “We urge all shops to report every theft, no matter how small, so we can act quickly.”
Sussex Police are stepping up efforts against retail crime, sending a clear message to persistent thieves: your spree will end.
