Tragic Stabbing in Walsall: Bailey Dies After Brutal Knife Attack
Despite open-heart surgery at the scene, Bailey died from multiple stab wounds to his back, arms, and legs. The promising young man had moved from Coventry to Walsall two years earlier, hoping to escape gang violence, but instead got caught up in local gang wars.
Hunted and Attacked: The Night of Terror
On the evening of 27 January 2023, Bailey was out with a female friend in Walsall town centre. As they passed market stalls, a stolen car swerved towards them. Bailey urged his friend to “run” and fled along the High Street.
Two stolen cars, a Toyota Verso and a Seat Leon, were travelling in convoy with nine occupants. They had gathered hours earlier in a supermarket car park, apparently seeking revenge for a previous attack Bailey had carried out on a relative of one of them.
Cornered at Lower Hall Lane, Bailey managed to escape momentarily. But the cars circled back and caught him further along the High Street. Six attackers jumped out, wielding machetes and zombie knives. They viciously attacked Bailey, leaving him no chance.
Callous Attackers Flee After Leaving Victim to Die
After the savage assault, the attackers got back into their cars. One even stopped to take a photo of the bleeding Bailey on his mobile phone. They fled to Wolverhampton, where police later found the burned-out vehicles on Slater Street.
Police arrived at the scene within five minutes and began CPR, but Bailey was pronounced dead at hospital shortly after.
