Sidcup man, 63, charged over low-grade bomb blast

Kevin Rees, 63, from Harcourt Avenue, Sidcup, now faces serious charges. He’s accused of causing an explosion likely to endanger life or cause major property damage. The incident involved a low-grade IED that blew up a camera on Willersley Avenue on December 6, 2024. Police launched a counter-terror probe following the blast.

Fit to Plead Despite Ill Health

Despite concerns over his poor health, Woolwich Crown Court confirmed on January 7 that Rees is fit to plead. Two separate doctors cleared him to take part in the court process.

Plea and Trial Dates Set

Rees is due to enter his plea on Friday, January 9. If he denies the charge, a trial will begin the very next Monday.

More Attacks on ULEZ Cameras

This case isn’t isolated. Last October, 63-year-old Stephen Harwood-Stamper got a community order after cutting down a ULEZ camera with an angle grinder, then destroying it. Attacks on ULEZ cameras continue to make headlines.
